Interior Designer Stephen Gambrel:
While thumbing through the August edition of domino magazine, I stumbled upon an amazing Interior Designer, Stephen Gambrel.
Personal Style:
- Inspired by: 19th-century houses in Virginia.
- Signatures: Easels for art and objects, drum shades, trays on large ottomans, feather beds over mattresses.
- Styling tricks: propping books vertically between book ends on coffee tables, and displaying collections of similar objects, like amber glass in different shapes. (Aug 2007 pg. 36)
On further research, I discovered his website and his New-York based design firm: S.R. Gambrel Inc. Here I found it easy to browse through his well planned portfolios filled with pictures of his designs from different regions and clients. Through his site, I was able to appreciate his variation in design. How could anyone not appreciate his soothing use of colors, pleasantly spaced features, his mix of unique furniture, and eye-catching textures and fabrics. His West Village Apartment is my favorite (for today).
