Healthcare Design
I am currently in my senior thesis studio focusing on Institutional Design (in the interior design program at Auburn University). We are designing a woman’s and children’s hospital.
In doing research, I have found inspiration through the partnering of Parsons The New School for Design and Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Architects on their Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC). Below is a series of images that inspire me to create a hospital that supports human healing through a connection to nature and daylighting. Find out more.
“The goal of the students’ work was to inspire options for chemotherapy suites for patients in a satellite outpatient center in Brooklyn.
“The goal for Parsons was to challenge the roles that interior designers can play in contemporary society by shaping the physical, emotional, and psychological experience for patients in ways that empower them.” _ Staff — Interior Design, 1/12/2010

Delightful Wedding Invitations
Even though the wedding bells aren’t in my future, Ello There makes my favorite invitations. So clever! I absolutely love etsy.
This is some of the great things about them:
“We are one of Martha Stewart Weddings favorite Etsy sellers: marthastewartweddings.com
We print on a wind powered press.
We are offering free rounded corners on all invitations, if you like. ”
Sometimes you just have to get out…
I love interior spaces, but there is still something very important about getting outside in nature and the beautiful landscape. I’m about to embark on a backpacking trip to Linville Gorge in North Carolina with some friends. This will be exciting and I can’t wait to be inspired by nature and the beautiful snow covered scenery. Chilly temperatures are expected, but what’s a trip without heightened senses?

Women of Design: Influence and Inspiration from the Original Trailblazers to the New Groundbreakers
Book Review:
“A great overview of inspirational and interesting design that just happens to be authored by women. You’ll see and read about great work alongside the strongest advocates of design education of the past 2 decades. The individual interview questions are smart and revealing. I admit, I am in the book so I may be biased. But for me what was exciting was to learn about all the design I’ve admired and didn’t realize was done by a woman: Paulina Reyes super cool Target cups, Pamela Zucker’s sweet packaging for Paddywax candles and Barbara de Wilde’s inspiring and groundbreaking work with Martha Stewart Magazine to name just a few. Included are some of my design heros: Marian Bantjes, the Number 17 women, Ellen Lupton, Gail Anderson, Irma Boom and of course Paula Scher. Although this book is missing a few important women in design (and what overview would ever be complete?), I have enthusiastically recommended this book to all my students – male and female alike.”

The Ugly Betty Set
Interior Design Magazine features the beautiful set of Ugly Betty. Clearly don’t judge the set by the show name.
“A Mariette Himes Gomez sofa and Laura Kirar chairs in Wilhelmina’s home living room. Photo by Eric Laignel.”
Two of my favorite pieces…
Paolo Rizzatto Regina II Swivel Armchair

Feels good to be published…
I am honored to be published in Auburn University’s Circle Magazine. I had three photographs from my travels abroad and five perspectives published in the Fall 2009 issue. Click below to see them all…
